Bird's Feet Rug Stair Treads: A Case Study

Our BIRD'S FEET pattern was the starting point for stair treads. (Pictured above is the strike off paired with a round of sketches.)

Sketches explored PLACEMENT of color and pattern and not actual color which was explored in the strike off itself. Our client worked with their architect who provided CAD for the treads. For this project, CAD was necessary to measure the complicated turns of the staircase in the historic home. (See below sketch of the CAD.)

The 2' x 2' strike off was designed to show many yarn color options and not a section of the final pattern design which is a typical use of the strike off. Our client was interested in a white background with red birds, but we also explored the darker gray/blue and birds the color of the nearby walls.
